on Saturday, January 19, 2013!
There will be 20 locations to go by and try some great wines.
The Ant Street Inn will present Pleasant Hill dessert wines during
The Swirl.
The Brenham House will be there, as well with some of our great desserts!
Come on by and see us from 3-7pm, at the Ant Street Inn.
We will have our Texas Sheet Cake,
Lemon Blossoms,
and a great Creamy Butter Cake
to sample along with Pleasant Hill's dessert wines.

Apricot White Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies
Apricot White Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies
1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. old fashioned oatmeal
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 sticks of soften butter
1/4 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 c. white chocolate, chopped
1 1/2-2 c. dried apricots, chopped
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix flour, oats, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, white chocolate apricots and set aside. Cream butter, eggs, and vanilla. Add dry ingredients slowly and mix just until combined. Drop heaping teaspoons on to cookie sheets with parchment paper. Bake for 14-16 minutes. Yields 4 dozen

This one is modern style with white limestone and Art Deco grill work above the doors.
This courthouse is at the center of Brenham in the historic downtown.

See you at the Brenham Uptown Swirl
What a glorious day!
The sun is shining and it is just beautiful outside.
January 14, 2012 and our first Uptown Swirl.
We have a full house tonight and tomorrow night. Our guest have yet to arrive, but will be here in time to start the wine tasting in historic downtown.
All of the stores, eateries, and the visitor's center are getting ready for greet all of our guests to downtown and are ready for the sampling to begin. Texas as well as international wines will be available for tasting.
We have already purchased our wine glasses and are excited about getting downtown to see all of our friends!
You may want to make reservations at Volare for dinner tonight
I know they have already sold out of the glasses and will be selling another type wine glass to those who did not buy their tickets ahead of time.
Go to the gazebo on Alamo Street at the courthouse to begin.

Cold hardy these flowers give color to your winter gardens!
Later to come at The Brenham House will be our "Lu Shan Snow",
"Spring Sonnet" and "Reverand John Bennett" camellias.
These Asian beauties arrived in the United States around 1798.

What is Cooking at The Brenham House?
Whistle Stop Pie
at The Brenham House
So easy and so--o-o-o good!
Mix 1-1/2 c. brown sugar, and 6T flour together and place in the pie shell.
Mix 1 c. half and half, 1 c. heavy whipping cream, pinch of salt, and 1 tsp. vanilla together and pour slowly over the brown sugar mixture. Sprinkle 1 tsp cinnamon over the top and dot with thin slices of butter.
Bake in a preheated oven at 450 degrees for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 350 degrees for remaining 50 minutes.
Let the pie cool and serve!

Surprise Visit at The Brenham House
Today, I had the best surprise!
I had a visit from, Karen, the prior innkeeper of The Brenham House!
It was so delightful to visit with her and find out more about the home. It has been a long process for us to gather information about the house and the people who lived in it, throughout the years.
She brought with her some pictures, of The Brenham House, from owners before her time at The Brenham House. It was so good to get to see the home and and yardscapes.
Karen, we hope your will come and visit again in the future!
