We are always happy to see our neighbors next door, 
planting a large garden,
 so we can swap out for something we did not plant!

O'Henry Bars for afternoon guests



O'Henry Bars
4 c. oats
1 c. brown sugar
2/3 c. butter, melted
3 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. almond extract
1/2 c. corn syrup
6 oz. chocolate chips
2/3 c. peanut butter
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  In a large bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, butter, extracts, and corn syrup.  Spread mixture into a lightly greased 13x9 baking dish.  Bake for 12 minutes.  Remove from oven and cool.  In a double boiler over low heat melt chocolate chips and peanut butter together.  Mix and smooth over the cooled bars.

So easy, so good!

Today we worked in the yard a little and gave everything a drink of water, 
did a walk through on our rooms for final details, organized our menus, 
grocery shopped, 
place the names on the welcome board,
posted the menus for tomorrow on the board,
placed flowers in the rooms, 
baked cookies for our first guests for Round Top Antique Festival

.... now we are sitting down with a cup of coffee
 to relax and 
enjoy our beautiful surroundings!

Sign of Spring!


Signs of Spring are here! 
 Glorious days to work in the yard and 
then sit back, with a cup of coffee, and enjoy all of the beauty.
The tulips are beginning to come up and the iris are starting to bloom.  The camellias are still going strong.  It is as if the alarm went off and everything is coming to life.
