History of the Churches at 700 Clinton Street

The Brenham House was built on the 1891 foundation of the first Lutheran Church of Brenham.  The home has the cruciform plan just as the church was built.  Services were delivered in German until the 1900's.  This church was destroyed by the Great Storm of 1900 that devastated Galveston and the Gulf Coast.
A second church was built on the original foundation in 1901.  Then congregation decided to build a third church on Third Street and dedicated it in 1925.  Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church is still on Third Street, Brenham.
